Our holiday homes are located in the very heart of Portugal, in the small village of Beco, nearby the Castelo do Bode lake. We will be happy to welcome you to one of our two comfortable holiday homes, the Casa da Coruja (Owl House) and the Casa Meiga (Sweet House). Enjoy the marvellous view over the valley, while tasting a good glass of Portuguese wine, and rediscover the peaceful rhythms of nature and tradition.
Casa da Coruja
Casa da Coruja, or the 'House of the Owl', owes its name to the traditional presence of these birds in this area. The house is a traditional construction in natural stone, nicely cool during summer and comfortably warm in the winter. The terrace is covered, giving a refreshing shade during the sunny days. From there you can enjoy the spectacular view over the valley.
Inside you will find a cosy living room with open kitchen, refrigerator, water heater, a four burner gas stove, and coffee-maker. If you're staying outside the summer months, there is a nice woodstove (even in Portugal, nights can get cold!). Off course there is a fully equipped bathroom with shower. The sleeping area is in the mezzanine (loft) in the living room of the 16 feet high cottage, where you will also find a comfortable double bed and a wardrobe.
Casa Meiga
Casa Meiga, or the 'Sweet House', has been recently constructed at the same premises as Casa da Coruja. It is fully equipped for two persons, from a comfortable double bed to a bath room with shower, an open kitchen with refrigerator and two burner gas stove and a terrace with table, chairs and the finishing touch: a wonderful panoramic view.
Holidays in the countryside
Both homes are situated on a 6000 m2 large terrain, glowing down towards the valley. You will find a very divers vegetation, with oak trees, chestnuts, olive trees and fruit trees, beside a magnificent view over the valley. When you're thirsty, feel free to pick an apple. Our chickens provide eggs for breakfast.
